Thoughts?

Hilarious albatross of a contract for a once-great defenseman on the decline with chronic injury issues.

The Sharks will be regretting that contract within two-three seasons, tops.

If that is the kind of contract it takes to land that guy, I am soooo glad San Jose did it, and not Tampa.

Karlsson has been overrated for years defensively. Doug Wilson just took the Sharks out of any serious Stanley Cup contention for years to come.

Crazy over payment.

Blues gave the blueprint on how to deal with Karlsson.

Game 1: "We played hockey tonight, and they worried about a few other things."

Game 5: Karlsson not on the bench for the third period.

Game 6: Karlsson not making the flight to St. Louis

Blues gave the blueprint for how to deal with anyone through the playoffs. Headshot the other teams good players - easy to win when the other team is too injured to compete.

I ain't gonna lie, it certainly was fun watching the Sharks' B team getting trucked 10-1 in the last two games of the WCF.

Sharks have always been a tough match up for the Blues. That was a pleasure to watch.

Victor Hedman has missed more games than Karlsson over the last six seasons FYI. So I suppose he's got "chronic injury issues" as well, right?

Karlsson has played 91% of his games over the last six years. Not sure what about that screams "chronic injury issues" to anyone.

That's easily going to be the most regretted contract in a long time.

I would say all teams check to the head through the playoffs and there are always questionable calls and missed calls. No team is innocent of this. I would say that for this one year we did not have someone get injured from hits as we always seemed to in the past.

Convenient how you went 6 years and not 5 or 7 to have the numbers work in your favor. Make it the last 7 years and that percentage goes down to 81%. Also, Hedman actually plays defense.

cry me a river.

San Jose should have been eliminated by Las Vegas. They never should have been there to play St Louis.

OK, so do the last 5 years. A nice round number. Karlsson still has played a larger percentage of his games than Hedman. My point isn't to knock Hedman or defend the Karlsson deal. I think it's a bad deal. I'm just not gonna call a guy injury prone who's played, over a big sample size, the overwhelming majority of games in recent seasons.

Hedman "actually playing defense" has literally not a single thing to do with any of my points, but is a convenient straw-man argument when you're trying to get people to agree with you ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

While no team is "innocent" bruv.. did you watch all PO's? The Blues musta put on at least 7 or 8 headshots.. that's unacceptable.

Also.. this contract... lol. Doug Wilson is terrible.

Not all injuries are the same. Hedman has never had ankle surgery. That ankle will never be the same.

And yes, Hedman *is* injury prone and has had concussions issues. As such, I would never sign him to a max deal with an $11-million caphit. He signed a team-friendly deal that will end before he's too far down the slope of his career. That Karlsson contract is downright silly.

My point isn't that it's a good deal, it's not. It's terrible in fact. My point is just that one bad season of injuries for Karlsson doesn't make him "chronically injured"

To be fair ... Karlsson was injured going into the series. It was only a matter of time before he collapsed.

This is going to end badly from the Sharks.... Almost half their roster is RFA / UFA and they have 12.5 million in space left...
